Dining in Hilton Head – Great Food and Great Views

While the major attractions on Hilton Head Island are its beaches, tennis resorts, golf courses, and it’s beautiful scenery, dining in Hilton Head can be worth the trip alone. Even though you can find many national restaurant chains when dining in Hilton Head, to truly experience what the island has to offer you have to try the top local restaurants which offer something unique to their guests. There are a number of restaurants of all sizes that have proven popular with locals and visitors alike, such as the Salty Dog Café, the Alligator Grille, and Antonio’s. Those looking for international cuisine should investigate La Normandie, Taste of Thailand, or Las Palapas, a truly authentic Mexican restaurant.

A pair of Japanese sister restaurants have proven particularly popular among those dining in Hilton Head. Kurama is a Japanese steakhouse which features hibachi-style cooking, meaning that the chefs prepare the food in front of their customers, doing tricks and entertaining them while cooking a first-rate meal. Kurama’s sister restaurant is Hinoki, which specializes in sushi and is renowned for its beautiful, peaceful atmosphere.

While there are many choices for those dining in Hilton Head, one restaurant that has stood the test of time as one of the island’s best is Michael Anthony’s Cucina Italiana. The quality of the food is consistently excellent due to the high standards of head chef Michael Cirafesi, who is also one of the restaurant’s owners. He and the others ensure that every dining experience there is a satisfying one, with special attention paid to the service the customers experience from the moment they enter the restaurant to the moment they leave. If you are truly interested in dining in Hilton Head, this is one of the first places you should visit.

However, there is a new restaurant giving Michael Anthony’s a run for its money. The Studio is making huge waves with both critics and customers, combining the artistry of food with actual fine art on its walls. The art in question is not a series of bland paintings or reprints designed to provide extra atmosphere, but instead original works by co-owner Lunonia Colella and other invited artists. No amount of art would make this an ideal destination for dining in Hilton Head, but chef Paul Colella, who prepares all the food himself, offers a creative, high-quality, and ever-changing menu to the restaurant’s patrons. The Studio is also renowned for its wines, winning the 2008 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

Anyone who visits Hilton Head is well-advised to try dining in Hilton Head as well. The great variety of restaurants offers something for every taste, and the unique geography of the island offers some of the most beautiful restaurant views to be found anywhere in the United States.
